Ugolini Vini celebrates ten years of taking part in the Merano Wine Festival by exhibiting four representative labels from the Fumane Valley and bringing home 3 Gold Medals at The WineHunter Award.
Once again this year, Ugolini Vini is proud to attend the Merano Wine Festival, a must in the Italian and international wine scene. Selected by patron Helmuth Köcher as an iconic presence in Valpolicella, the winery is getting ready to celebrate its tenth consecutive appearance at this event, taking the chance to tell about its commitment, passion and constant work towards excellence in a context that allows it to compare itself with the best of the enological and gastronomic world.
The Merano Wine Festival, which will take place from November 8 to 12, is not just a showcase, but a real lounge of Europe's good wine, a unique meeting place where producers, industry experts and enthusiasts come together to share experiences and visions. Ugolini's stand will be open to the public from November 9 to 11, ready to welcome the press, professionals and wine lovers from all over Europe. Being present in Merano allows Ugolini Vini to strengthen bonds with colleagues, industry professionals and friends, and to explore the most relevant issues about the future of the wine industry.
Ugolini Wines: ambassadors of Valpolicella at the Merano Wine Festival
As for Ugolini Vini, taking part in the Merano Wine Festival is a precious occasion to tell the story and the link with the Fumane Valley, in the Valpolicella Classica region. This geographical area, the beating heart of its production, is mirrored in each wine it presents at the festival: the Valpolicella Classico DOC “Pozzetto” 2020, the Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC “San Michele” 2016, the Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG “Valle Alta” 2015 and the Recioto della Valpolicella Classico DOCG “Valle Lena” 2019. Each vintage and each bottle are the result of a path of consistent research toward quality and authenticity, a journey that has led them to national and international recognition.
Presenting their wines in Merano also means facing the current challenges of viticulture, such as climate change and sustainability, central themes of the 33rd edition of the festival, which asks the crucial question, “Quo Vadis?” inviting people to reflect on the future of wine and gastronomy.
The Merano Wine Festival: Giambattista Ugolini's speaking
“Returning to Merano is always wonderful; especially this year, because it marks the 10th anniversary of our first entry into the event,” says Giambattista Ugolini, founder of Ugolini Vini. “We enjoy the Merano Wine Festival because of its intimate and stimulating atmosphere, which is different from other trade events. It is a perfect setting for reconnecting with friends and colleagues, discussing current issues in viticulture and sharing meaningful experiences. The lighthearted atmosphere encourages exchanges and friendly moments, allowing producers, press and enthusiasts to meet outside the stands.”
Regarding the patron's selection of the winery, Giambattista Ugolini says, “We would like to sincerely thank the president and founder of the festival, Helmuth Köcher, for establishing such an eye-opening and successful event. His vision has made the Merano Wine Festival a benchmark for the wine and food industry, a place where the current and future challenges of viticulture are discussed.”
“Quo Vadis?": the theme of the 33rd edition
As predicted, this year's festival launches the question “Quo Vadis?” inviting all the actors in the wine and food sector to consider current challenges, including climate change, sustainability and opening up to new international markets. This edition promises to be full of exciting debates and learning opportunities, with a special focus on sustainability from vineyard to shelf.
During the festival, excellence in Wine, Food, Spirits and Beer will be showcased, featured in The WineHunter 2024 Guide, which was introduced on August 19. The 2024 festival edition will also see the introduction of new sections, including bio&dynamic &more, which is not limited to organic and biodynamic wines, but also includes Equalitas and SQNPI-certified wines, as well as amphora wines and those from Piwi-resistant vines.
Three gold medals for Ugolini Wines
Each year, the Merano Wine Festival highlights the excellence selected by The WineHunter and its scouts, who this year tasted some 8,000 wine labels and 600 products in the Food, Spirits and Beer categories.
The WineHunter Award Guide of 2024 is a summary of passion and dedication that recognizes the best products and personalities that stand out in the food and wine scene. Ugolini's wines also rank among the award-winning delicacies: gold medals for 3 out of the 4 wines competing in the festival (Valpolicella Classico DOC “Pozzetto” 2020, Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC “San Michele” 2016, and Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG “Valle Alta” 2015), proving the great enological value of the company's production.
A decade of attendance
Ugolini Vini's presence at the Merano Wine Festival is synonymous either with continuity or innovation. Throughout ten years, the winery has been able to evolve while maintaining strong links with the land and its roots, at the same time embracing new agronomic techniques and an increasingly global vision.
As for Ugolini Vini, the tenth year at the Merano Wine Festival is proof of an ongoing commitment to quality and innovation. A path that runs through moments of discussion, reflection and celebration of excellence, with the goal of telling the Fumane Valley to the world and keeping growing in the name of tradition.
