Monte Solane

The Vineyard of the Sun

Planted in 2000 in the upper Valpolicella, at 650 meters above sea level, this is an extreme wine: elegant like a ballerina, but wearing the boots of a mountaineer.

On the western edge of Valpolicella rises Monte Solane, a scenic ridge dazzled by Lake Garda and swept by the breezes of the Dolomites. At 650 meters above sea level, under the watchful eye of hawks, the vines grow upon a deep layer of pink Prun stone. Their roots are forced to plunge deep into the earth, threading through veins of ancient clay to draw life. In this pristine terrain, they yield just sixty quintals per hectare.
